What is it:

In this session the Generic Names Supporting Organisation (GNSO) Council, the body responsible for managing the policy development process for generic top-level domains (gTLDs), provides an opportunity for community members to interact with the Council as it conducts its meeting. Topics on the agenda include: dispute handling for IGO Names and Abbreviations; domain tasting; GNSO comments in response to the ccNSO/GAC Issues Report on IDNs; and WHOIS services.

Why it's important:

This forum enables stakeholders to provide input on the Council's proposals and deliberations on: 1) IGO Names and Abbreviations; 2) Domain Tasting; 3) GNSO comments in response to the ccNSO/GAC Issues Report on IDNs; 4) Council action in response to the work of the Whois working group and Whois Task Force that concluded their work earlier this year; 5) any other issues that are added to the agenda. Note that a new format is being tried in this session that is designed to integrate public comments with Council discussion and action.

Who should attend:

Anyone with an interest in specific gTLD issues and/or the domain name system policy in general, including registrars, gTLD registries, businesses, Internet service providers, Internet users, and government representatives.
