This session will focus on IPv6 deployment. Paul Wilson (APNIC), Jay Daley (Nominet) and Mr. Uematsu (NTT West) will give examples of real world experiences of IPv6 and discuss what additional work is needed before more widespread deployment is possible.
IP address utilization is affected by policy decisions. As we near the depletion of previously unallocated IPv4 addresses, it becomes more urgent to understand how policies implemented at the local, national, regional, and global levels will encourage or discourage the deployment of IPv6. This workshop is intended to provide some background for how the Internet has arrived at this point, and to give some sense of how different participants in IP addressing policy can affect the Internet's future direction.
GAC representatives and other ICANN participants who are engaged in policy decisions regarding IP addressing and Internet growth. These presentations may be particularly useful for those who are unfamiliar with the iP addressing communities.
